Description:

Both male and female have flashy black and white stigmas that rule out all other NJ odes. Males are pruinose blue, females brownish with pale lateral abdominal stripes and pale spots on the thorax.

Yellow-sided Skimmer is colored similarly; while the stigmas may be two-tone they are not the flashy black and white of Spangled.

Conservation Status:
State: S5 Demonstrably secure in the state
Global: G5 Secure globally, but possibly rare in parts of its range
